Raise the Woof: Two-book deal!
Some books are dog-eared, and some books are dog tales. My next young adult novel aims to be both: It’s about a rescue Rottweiler named Jonny Rotten and a kicked-around 16-year-old named Jimmer “JD” Dobbs. Here’s the official announcement from Publishers Marketplace:
February 1, 2012, Children’s: Young Adult
TRAPPED author Michael Northrop’s ROTTEN, the tale of a rescue Rottweiler and a troubled teen who overcome each other’s defenses only to have everything threatened by a treacherous friend and one snap of the dog’s powerful jaws, again to Anamika Bhatnagar at Scholastic, in a two-book deal, by Sara Crowe at Harvey Klinger (world).
Amazing, right? We had a lot of dogs when I was growing up—as many as five at a time, a lot of them rescues—and I’ve always wanted to feature a dog as a main character. JR was really a joy to write, and now readers will get to meet him. If I were any more excited, I’d chew up the couch!
Did You Know? Yesterday was the birthday of Jonny Rotten’s namesake, legendary singer/scoundrel Johnny Rotten. Happy Birthday, you punk!
Congratulations, Michael! (Am I the only one who still comments on blogs instead of Facebook? Le sigh.)
Thanks, Heather! Yeah, it definitely feels like most of the commenting has migrated to Facebook and Twitter. I’m not too picky: Wherever people comment is fine with me. (But that “0 comments” tag looks a little sad sometimes….)
Congrats on the book deal!! I can’t wait to read this, and I hope there are many more loldogs on the path to its publication.
Yah, congrats!
Thanks, y’all! I am very excited about this one, and I can’t wait until it’s released—or I guess unleashed is more like it.
Yay! (And the Pup-lisher’s Marketplace pup is SO cute 🙂
Thanks, Taylor! Yes, you may see more of that little guy on this site!
