Top 10 Animals I Saw at the Zoo Today

Central Park Zoo, April 27, 2009. Listed in no particular order.

Chinstrap penguins
Bats!
Dexter cow, which I petted
Polar bears, which I did not
Prehensile-tailed slink
Superb starling
Bufflehead (like a little duck)
Black and white ruffed lemur (panda-colored)
Red panda (red-panda-colored)
Sea lions (It was feeding time! They do tricks!)

IMPORTANT NOTE: The snow leopards arrive on June 13, so I will probably have to amend this list then. Snow leopards are rock stars, in every sense, as they thrive in high rocky terrain.

  1. Sounds like a good outing, with an emphasis on animals you’d find in the (ant)arctic.

Yeah, the Central Park Zoo is a nice little place. It’s pretty small, as zoos go, but it’s got those big ol’ polar bears.

  3. Karen says:

Cool! you know David and I have adopted the bufflehead as our family mascot….it all goes back to a hotly contested Scrabble game….

  4. Michael says:

That’s a solid mascot choice. Those li’l things are cool!

    Hi Penguin! Hi!
